credibility factor

by indigoblue @ 2008-08-22 - 08:49:33

I have always been intrigued how quickly a cafe will fill up once it has a couple of people in it. You may look into a cafe and think that as there is no one in the food will be bad. once you see other people inside it gives it a sense of credibility.

I recently stopped at an ice cream kiosk on the seafront, "hows business" I asked " terrible" the little old lady inside told me. I sat on a bench with a friend eating the ice cream, suddenly she had lots of customers. People saw me eating the ice cream and perhaps the idea of an ice cream seemed attractive or was it something deeper?

is there something that draws people to a certain spot at the same time?

Some cafes can be full and turn out to be awful!! LOL...we've been taken in once or twice by full tables...we just go by the look of the place and, if we like it, we go in regardless of how many people are in it, but you might be right about attracting other people once somebody's buying something inside or even outside in your case...:) GBHs...XXX

Yes, very much so.

Throw a few crusts of bread on a deserted lawn and see how many birds suddenly appear from nowhere.

We too still exercise a certain amount of animal instinct.

Some of us more than others in many different ways - some very good and others very bad!

The power of advertising is as nothing compared with recommendation.

I believe some crafty companies / traders use the technique of false recommendation to lure potential customers. Like the street gambler's 3 card trick partner, drawing in the gulible by pretending to win against the gambler.

Perhaps you should have asked the ice cream vendor for some commission! ;)
