watching films

I remember going to the pictures on a saturday afternoon with my brother. we used to sing "we are the children of the ABC". I did anyway as my brother never joined in anything.

We used to go with my dad and he paid ninepence for us to sit in the the back row. If you sat near the front the kids used to beat you up! especially if they got over excited watching audie murphy...

I hate to say it but my favourites were Shirley Temple films...LOL

I see Tarzan films are a hit..so can anyone remember any old films they enjoyed?

We used to go on a Saturday morning and sing that song...loved those Sat. morning pics... Always have loved the cinema and used to go very regularly once a week but now I barely go at all mostly because there's not much worth going for... GBHs...XXX

  I know what you mean, its hardly worth going these days. They don't make films like they used to. I hate all the violence in films these days.

    I don't mind comic book type violence, but I'm up to my damned ears in serial killers and horror films...I used to like well made thrillers but they're all robberies now or drug related and that I find done to death as well...think creatively we're running out of steam very fast... Entertainment wise, the world is pretty boring at the moment...LOL...GBHs...XXX

I always went with four friends. We would sit in the balcony away from those bad boys below, who always made such a row!
One of our mates came with a hidden bag that she showed us. She had put together a paste of flour/water. Right in the middle of the movie, she leaned over and made sick noises. The one next to her opened up the bag onto the heads below.
Then we ran away as fast as we could.

We didn't have an ABC on the island where I grew up so "Satdee Matnee" was at the Essoldo and was bereft of any community singing element.
I remember dire cliffhanger serials, probably from the 30's (this was the 60's) one of which was about Batman before the kitch TV series became such a worldwide phenomenon.
High spots every week were the Warner Bors cartoons (never Disney for some reason) - Road Runner, Bugs Bunny and...and...That's All Folks!

  I remember batman! thought it was great. We also had warner Bros cartoons, tweety pie was my favourite. I was a real fan of "the three little pigs" often missing the bus home to watch it again and again!

I do remember back in old days when I saw Tarzan, Roy Rogers and other. I loved watching cowboy films. And since the TV series Rawhide back in 1966 Clint Eastwood has been my favorite actor.
